    • Structural Integration

      Move with Integrated Efficiency

Structural Integration focuses on movement patterns, posture, body alignment, and the connective fascia of the body. Fascia is designed to be elastic and move freely with muscles and bones. Injury, stress, work-related repetitive movements and aging can cause fascia to lose its elasticity and become shorter, tighter, and denser. Tightened fascia pulls our muscles and skeleton out of proper alignment and posture, which can cause pain, discomfort, and fatigue.

Structural Integration assesses movement patterns, posture, and alignment, looking for anomalies and restrictions. Then it uses hands-on bodywork to lengthen and soften fascia, and to restore postural balance, ease of movement, and a feeling of being at home in your body. It is practiced in a series of sessions or individual sessions within a framework that is designed to restore postural balance by aligning and integrating the body in gravity. Structural Integration is based on Rolfing. However, Rolfing follows a set pattern of predefined sessions, regardless of what issue the client wants addressed. Structural Integration analyzes what each client brings with them, what their particular concern is, and then sets up a plan or sequence based on that issue. And if the client comes in for a mid-sequence session and what was planned is not what the client actually needs that day, we change course, and deal with the issue as it stands in that moment.

Structural Integration helps us move with ease, fluidity, efficiency and grace. It can help release an individual's potential, promoting positive change, lowering anxiety, improving sleep, increasing confidence, and maturing emotional expression. Structural Integration provides increased body awareness and presence.

I am a certified Structural Integration Practitioner.

    • Ortho-Bionomy

Engaging the Body's Self-Correcting Evolutionary Capacity

Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that works with chronic stress, injuries and pains or problems associated with postural and structural imbalances. These gentle positions, combined with self-care techniques, facilitate changes in your stress and pain patterns. With Ortho-Bionomy, I recognize your pattern, find the position of comfort, exaggerate the position of comfort, and in turn support the body’s self-correcting reflexes.

Sometimes the body’s natural ability to remain balanced is short-circuited by stress, injury, accident, improper posture, emotional experiences or by overtaxing the body’s limits. When the body is out of balance, it adapts as well as it can, but in the process it may create patterns of even greater stress. I work with you to support and facilitate your healing, re-educate dysfunctional patterns, and restore normal functioning. You are an active participant in the process.

Whether looking for relief from specific discomfort or for a safe and effective way to ease stress and promote relaxation, Ortho-Bionomy can be beneficial. It can also work in conjunction with other healing systems. It is not a substitute for appropriate medical care, nutrition or exercise.

I am a certified Ortho-Bionomy Practitioner and am proud to bring the work to Germany.

    • Morales Method

The Right Tool for the Right Job

A Few Questions to Help Understand the Morales Method

I'm in pain, will this help?

Most of my clients start to see results in the 1st session. Based on the work you've previously received, I usually know what approach has not been taken and create a strategy from a blend of many modalities to get the job done.

      How does it start?

I ask you to walk or move, to see how you function and to determine where to work first.

How is this different from Massage?

Massage focuses on working the muscles as separate parts. The Morales Method understands the body as a whole and works all forms of connective tissue (including the organs). No oil or lotion is used.

      Is it Painful?

No. Bodyworkers who cause you pain are doing it wrong and acting counter to the body's needs.

      How many sessions?

It depends on your needs. Many of my clients start with three sessions and we go from there. If you are in acute pain, the sessions are modified to address the pain issue.

I am a Certified Morales Method Practitioner and am proud to bring this work to Germany.

    • Nuad Boran Thai Bodywork

Ancient Healing Work for the Body as the Home of the Spirit

      <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

Nuad Boran Thai Bodywork is an ancient energy-based healing system that combines acupressure, reflexology, and assisted yoga postures. Every year I love it more as I discover how deeply it understands human bodies and the human condition. It has all kinds of answers for all kinds of Xin needs, be they for body, heart, mind, or soul.

There is constant contact between you and me, using compression, pulls, stretches and rocking to clear energy blockages and relieve tension. I create a dance of movement and share it with you; you are an active participant. In this process, joints open, muscles and stretch, internal organs tone, and energy balances. The overall effect is deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being. I find the results also last significantly longer than those of Swedish or Deep Tissue.

Nuad Boran began to evolve in Thailand over 2,000 years ago. Similar to Shiatsu, it focuses on circulation of vital energy in major pathways called sen. The major energy lines are manipulated, and pressure points along these pathways are stimulated to ease blockages, stimulate energy flow and restore balance and harmony.

Nuad Boran includes integrated yoga postures. Through assisted yoga, the body is stretched in ways that are difficult to attain through individual exercise and yoga practice. The result of a full-body Thai treatment is a powerful mind/body healing experience.

It also includes me saying ancient Thai prayers over you. The prayers are part of the experience.

They help the healing. Enjoy them.

I am a certified Nuad Boran Bodywork Therapist and have also taught Nuad Boran.

Classic Swedish! The one most people feel they know the most about! Swedish is the western standard for massage. It relaxes you, soothes and lengthens your muscles, and improves your circulation. Swedish is like really good vanilla ice cream: you can eat a whole bowl of it by itself, but it also makes an excellent backdrop for combining other modalities.

I am a certified Swedish Massage Therapist and have also taught Swedish.

    • Shiatsu

      Energy-Meridian-Based Japanese Healing Bodywork

Shiatsu is a Japanese physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works with the whole person: the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of being. It works with the energetic body's meridians as well as the physical body's muscles.

Shiatsu originated in Japan from traditional Chinese medicine, with influences from more recent Western therapies. It is deeply relaxing and regular treatments can alleviate stress and illness and maintain health and well-being.

I am a certified Shiatsu Therapist and have also taught Shiatsu.

    • Zero Balancing

      Balanced Body, Balanced Mind

Zero Balancing frees the energy flow of the musculoskeletal system. This relieves aches and pain, releases movement restrictions, and can provide relief from emotional distress, improving your quality of life. Zero Balancing can also help with relief from back pain, improving concentration or sleep, releasing stress, shifting behavior patterns, and enhancing well-being.

Zero Balancing helps open stuck areas or blockages in the body’s natural shock absorbers. Once these areas are free, pain can release. It also releases tissue-held memory and tension patterns that may be affecting your mental, emotional and physical states. This can help us feel better-equipped to handle daily pressures. Many people who receive Zero Balancing on a regular basis find themselves more joyful and satisfied in their relationships.

Zero Balancing induces a state of deep rest that allows you to feel truly relaxed, renewed and well. Regular sessions may help you feel more vital and alive. It also creates inner and outer balance, alignment and organization. When your body is balanced and your posture is aligned, you can move with freedom.

And, a Zero Balancing session supports positive changes in behavior or attitude by giving you the chance to state your personal goals for change, which become the focus of the session. With the ZB practitioner’s attention and touch, energy is realigned so that old patterns can drop away and resistance to change subsides.

    • Myofascial Release

Ease and release of adhesions in the fascial wetsuits we live in

Myofascial Release applies gentle sustained pressure to myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Myofascial release is slow work. Bodies need time. More scientifically put, viscous fascial flow requires time and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load of gentle pressure applied slowly allows viscoelastic fascia to elongate.

I am a certified Myofascial Release Therapist and have taught Myofascial Release.

Sessions are done at my studio in Kreuzkölln. Myofascial release is done on bare skin with no oil. It can be done as a standalone session but I more commonly mix it with other bodywork forms.

    • Trigger Point Therapy

      Making the Spot Feel Better

A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may produce referral pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache.

Trigger point therapy asks you to actively participate via deep breathing and identifying the location and intensity of the Spot.

The results and benefits of trigger point massage are releasing constricted areas in the muscles thus alleviating pain. You can experience a significant decrease in pain after one treatment. Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.

I am a certified Trigger Point Therapy Practitioner.

It is not the sort of work I make into a whole session; it is more like a spice I throw into other sessions.

    • Reembody

      Method

Freedom from Habitual Restrictive Dominance Patterns

      Discover Your Body's Potential

Reembody is based on the principle that forces, rather than bones or muscles, are the fundamental units of human movement. As your body absorbs forces like gravity, friction, and inertia, your brain’s perception of them—as safe or threatening—determines the quality of the movement that follows. Reembody assesses body dominance patterns and their ensuant compensation patterns and muscular imbalances, then helps you redevelop new neuromuscular connections.

Through a series of diagnostic and corrective exercises, the Reembody Method helps you build predictions about how your brain and body will react. This information can be used to improve any pattern of movement. Reembody techniques have been successfully used in post-op surgery recovery, competitive triathlon training, Olympic-level athletic conditioning, even issues related to mental health. Concertmasters, opera singers, octagenarians, competitive swimmers and cyclists, people with stress injuries or high-stress jobs: Reembody works for any body.

Because Reembody techniques change the way force moves through your body, most people experience a positive change immediately. For some people a single session is sufficient; others choose to work with a practitioner once or twice a week. Most clients choose to do 3-5 sessions over a one month period, followed by quarterly check-ups.

I am a Certified Reembody Apprentice and am proud to bring the work to Germany. I am proud to say it has put me out of chronic pain, shortened healing time for my injuries, resolved my problematic gait issues, made me a healthier bicyclist, and made me understand how the heck to do yoga in a way that serves my body. It is truly a brilliant and biomechanically sound new modality. The science is sound, the biology is sound, the physics is sound. However, learning how to really do it well will require hundreds or thousands of hours that I have not yet put in. I am an Apprentice. As such, I offer my special Apprentice Rate for this modality.

    • Deep Tissue Therapy & Sports Massage

The Yang Side of the Bodywork Coin

      No It Does Not Hurt

If you went to a Deep Tissue Therapist before and it hurt, that's because they're doing it wrong

Deep Tissue is my vote for Most Commonly Terribly Executed Modality out there, leading it to being the Most Commonly Misunderstood Modality out there. Its job is to lengthen muscle fibers. "Deep Tissue" simply means that this modality addresses muscle groups that lie farther below the surface than some others. As soon as we start to feel pain, muscle fibers contract...so that person you went to before me was doing the opposite of their job! Forget that experience.

Sports Massage! Also enjoyable by people who are not athletes! Brisk, goal-oriented, targeted therapeutic massage, occasionally involving PNF and MET, to get muscles long and healthy and functional and get you back on the field.

I am a certified Deep Tissue Therapist (and Sports Massage Therapist) and have also taught Deep Tissue.

Sessions are done at my studio in Kreuzkölln. But if you think you need more than ten minutes of Deep Tissue you are wrong. Nobody does. Deep Tissue works better as a throw-in ingredient combined with other modalities. I prefer to address things people think are "Deep Tissue" needs with Ortho-Bionomy, which works faster and better with a lot less effort. But if you specifically want Deep Tissue because that's what your body enjoys, I will do it. A little. You don't need more than a little.

    • Feldenkrais Method

      Do Less, Feel More

The Feldenkrais Method® gives you an opportunity to sense and feel specifically how you move. This chance to notice your habitual patterns in a meaningful way allows for you to obtain optimal functioning in all walks of life.

Human beings have a vast capacity for learning yet we also have the tendency for developing habits that cause pain and undermine higher learning and efficient functioning.

Feldenkrais teaches us how to improve our posture and breathing; reduce stress, tension, and fatigue; and ease pain and stiffness while increasing efficient, flexible movement. Because Feldenkrais integrates movement with thinking, feeling and sensing, it can expand our potential in other capacities, particularly creativity and problem-solving.

I am not a certified Feldenkrais practitioner but have studied it extensively and like to add its principles into my sessions.

    • Alexander Technique

      Right Action Frees You

Learning How to Say No to Effort

The Alexander Technique changes the postural aspect of mental and emotional reactions. We become aware of our thoughts and feelings, and of the postures and tensions that accompany these states. We open up, we free, we learn how to not do what does not need to be done.

Alexander students learn to improve postural habits via awareness, stopping, and conscious choice.

Learn to reduce your stress in emotionally or physically challenging situations, such as sitting and working at a desk, social dancing, public speaking, injuries, carrying a bag, and wearing high heels.

I am not a certified Alexander Technique practitioner but have studied it extensively and like to add its principles into my sessions.
    • Cranial-Sacral Therapy

Central Nervous System Work for Stress, Migraines

      <!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

Cranial Sacral works with light, therapeutic touch administered to the head, neck, low-back and other areas of the body. Gentle pressure is used to manipulate the cranial bones, creating a feeling of deep relaxation, and better alignment of the whole body. It has also been found helpful for managing migraines.

I am a Certified Cranial Sacral Therapist. I really enjoy doing the work and listening to the bones, and find that people respond to this Zenlike atmosphere of deep focussed listening.

    • Reflexology

Touch Your Whole Body Through Your Foot

I'm Not Sure if I Buy the Exact Particulars of the Idea

But I know It Feels Great and Is Very Relaxing

I am a Certified Reflexologist. I don't really believe the exact particulars of the modality, which is that every exact place on the foot (or hand or ear) corresponds to one exact other place on the body, and that if you touch exactly the right spot on the foot (or hand or ear), you will address that exact right corresponding spot on the body. Part of why I don't believe this is because I didn't experience that correspondence in my own body while training. Another part is that there are many different reflexology maps, all claiming to be the right one, and they all map the body quite differently from one another.

But I do know that in touching one part of ourselves we touch the whole self, and that getting a darned good foot rub can put you in exactly the relaxed and meditative trance (or nap) you need to activate your own personal healing powers. So you might actually end up addressing some specific other part of your body that needed addressing after all, through your body's innate wisdom. And in the meantime, relaxed easy feet affect your posture, your walk, and your connection with the ground, which in turn can bring about all kinds of healthy change.

I am a Certified Reflexologist but don't believe in the particulars of the modality.

But I do know everyone could use an awesome foot massage.

    • Gyrotonic

      Gyrokinesis

Radiating in Organized Spirals and Vectors

I originally started doing Gyrotonic because everyone said it was a magic bullet for becoming a better tango dancer, a thing for which there are no magic bullets. And they were right, it was! I learned how to radiate energy in organized spirals and vectors, which any good dancer needs. There's a reason Gyro was originally called "Yoga for Dancers." I also learned that with good teachers, the physical is only the uppermost layer of the work, which is just as spiritual as yoga. I loved Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis, loved how it made me feel (balanced and tranquil and grounded), loved how it made me move (organized and free and expansive and easy), and loved how it changed my mind and helped me see puzzles in new lights. I wanted to become the world's biggest GyroNut, and I wanted this for everyone.

I did all the intensive training for Gyrotonic Level 1 Trainer status and then was failed due to last-minute pneumonia. Since they refused me any refund on the many thousands of dollars training required and also refused me any kind of makeup sessions, despite long attempts at negotiating with headquarters, I was unable to continue with my training, and that is why I am not a Gyrotonic Trainer today. I have issues with this. But I still like to add Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis principles into my sessions.
